History

From our founding, our staff worked with design engineers, providing solutions for product designs. With each new design, we built a reputation for solving difficult problems. From drawing board to manufacturing, our design solutions have been purchased by factories around the world. By adding local logistics centers, and our “SOLUTIONS” approach, we provide a higher level of service and support. Today, we have over 25 logistics sites in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, and Asia.

In 1999 we purchased our first manufacturing site, Accuracy Screw Machine in Hayward, California. Today, with plants in Nogales, Mexico and Dongguan, China; we provide a full range of precision machining, turning, milling, and high-volume production turning. These plants also manufacture PENCOM Captive Screws, Standoffs, Spacers, Press-in Sheet Metal Fasteners (Zins®) and Inserts for Plastics (Zerts®).

With the purchase of Visible Inventory in 2005, we became the leader in INVENTORY AUTOMATION. Now customers no longer need to actively manage inventory; Visible Inventory remotely monitors it. Our “Manufactured globally, supplied locally” philosophy continues to provide low-cost global manufacturing with localized inventory.

Milestones

1982 Founded to provide component solutions to OEM design engineers.
1989 Moved to a 1,100-square-foot facility in Foster City, California.
1995 Achieved ISO certification, reinforcing a long-term commitment to quality.
1999 Acquired the first manufacturing site (Accuracy Screw Machine, Hayward, CA), expanding into precision machining.
2000 Established plants in Nogales, Mexico, and Dongguan, China to scale machining and production of proprietary fasteners.
2005 Acquired Visible Inventory® and became a leader in inventory automation.
2010 Advanced operations with in-house plating in Nogales and major investments in equipment and logistics.
2017 Welcomed North State Fastener as a sister company, strengthening PENCOM’s presence in the industry.
2018 Expanded presence with the addition of Fasteners West in Brea, California.
2022 Completed a double acquisition: Standard Hardware (Euless, TX) and ACF Industrial Solutions (Hayward, CA), expanding capabilities.
2025 Acquired Integrated Defense Products (IDP) in Rockwall, TX — expanding precision machining capabilities. Read more.
